Product Description

White Flat 'Boer Pampoen' Seed Packets

Each ‘Boer Pampoen’ seed package contains between 12-15 seeds. All the seed have been treated with a commercial fungicide by the supplier – Agrisol (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. SEEDS ARE FOR SOWING PURPOSES ONLY – DO NOT USE FOR FOOD, FEED OR PROCESSING

Eureka Farms imports the seed to the US under an IMPORT PERMIT FOR PLANTS AND PLANT PRODUCTS issued by the US Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. Each shipment is accompanied by a PHYTOSANITARY CERTIFICATE issued by the National Department of Agriculture – Directorate Plant Health and Quality for the Republic of South Africa to ensure healthy and disease-free seed.

Due to Agricultural restrictions, we cannot ship seed outside the United States.

When to plant: Spring to summer. In frost free areas, can be sown until autumn. Approximately 90 (3 months) days to harvest

Where to plant: Direct sunlight

How to plant: Prepare basins of well matured soil 3–5 foot apart. Plant 6–8 seeds in each basin 1 to 2 inches deep. Germination takes approximately 7–14 days

Spacing: When plants are established, thin out leaving 3 or 4 of the moist vigorous plants

Common problems: Powdery mildew causes a white, powdery mold growth on the upper surfaces of the leaves. The growth can kill the leaves prematurely and interfere with proper ripening. Cucumber beetles and squash bugs attack seedlings, vines and both immature and mature fruits. Be alert for an infestation of cucumber beetles and squash bugs, as populations build in late summer, because these insects can damage the mature fruits, marring their appearance and making them less likely to keep properly.

Combat both powdery mildew and beetle by spraying plants with a mild organic soap solution. Check with your local garden center for a natural, organic pesticide.

Remarks: A rich well draining soil is required. Pumpkin requires a fairly rich soil. Keep moist during germination. Ensure that plants never lack water and an occasional feeding with a balanced fertilizer will be beneficial. Fruit may be picked at different stages of ripeness.

WARNING: SEEDS ARE FOR SOWING PURPOSES ONLY – DO NOT USE FOR FOOD, FEED OR PROCESSING
