The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
As the Nurse Coordinator for the UCSD Diabetes and Pregnancy program, June Brill considers the search for a cure to diabetes more than a profession, and is dedicated to raise much-needed funds for diabetes research. With this in mind, DiscoverProtea.com with donate a percentage of the profits of each #1 Select Designer Grade Protea Bouquets sold to the San Diego Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF is the nation’s leading nonprofit nongovernmental funder of diabetes research.  In a typical year JDRF donates 85% of dollars raised directly to research and education.  It is because of the caring and commitment of individuals and companies such as ourselves that JDRF can someday realize its dream for a world that is free of diabetes.

This is a non-profit trade association established to represent the professional needs and interests of the floral industry in California. They offer a variety of services to strengthen the floral and agricultural industries by increasing the flow of products from California to destinations throughout the world.

Business Program

These exceptional Protea flowers of unsurpassed quality and beauty, are ideal for displays in business reception areas, hotel and restaurant lobbies and any high traffic areas where you want to attract attention. To qualify for our Business Program, initially you have to sign up for three (3) months. You will be contacted via e-mail during the third month to ensure your absolute satisfaction and, if in mutual agreement, your service will be continued on a monthly billing cycle.

Shipping Policies

Protea Flower Bouquets
To ensure the freshness of our Protea Bouquets, we use FedEx to ship our bouquets. We offer three shipping methods. 1) FedEx 2nd Day. This is the most economical and preferred method, and 2) FedEx Standard Overnight. Each box weighs 8 pounds and measures 32" x 7.5" x 6". A larger and heavier box is used for shipping the 24 count Protea Table Arrangements. DiscoverProtea.com issues a Signature Release to FedEx and as soon as your shipment is delivered, you will receive an e-mail from FedEx as delivery confirmation. At present we are unable to deliver outside of the United States due to Agricultural Regulations. FedEx does not deliver to P.O. Boxes and before shipping to hospitals, be sure to check that they accept flower deliveries. Although we pack our flowers with icepacks to ensure the flowers stay cool, DiscoverProtea.com cannot be responsible for delivery delays due to wrong addresses, extreme weather conditions, acts of God, acts of terrorism, government mandated agricultural inspections or delays at Customs Inspection Points. All changes to orders within 48 hours may result in additional charges, but we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our flowers are NOT shipped the same day that they are cut, they are refrigerated overnight to eliminate the 'field heat' to  extend the vase-life of the Protea Bouquets. Therefore, a two day lead time is necessary to complete all orders. Protea Bouquets ordered on Monday will be delivered on Wednesday, and so forth. Orders placed on Thursday (after 10am PST), Friday, Saturday and Sunday, will be shipped on Monday, unless you make special arrangements by calling (760)259-2001 or contacting us by email. Additional charges may apply.

Please Note: Not all Protea varieties are available year round and we cannot deliver on a Saturday or on a Monday. Tuesday deliveries have to be shipped FedEx Standard Overnight.

Protea Seed
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it to us within 30 days of purchase for a prompt refund. For a refund, items must be returned within 30 days of purchase in original condition. It is unacceptable to return a King Protea Starter Pack, a Protea Starter Pack, Protea Botanical Print or Protea Greeting Card with the shrink-wrap removed. Due to agricultural restrictions, we cannot ship Protea seed outside of the United States. We obtain a Phytosanitary certificate to import the seed into the United States of America, and in order to re-export, another Phytosanitary certificate is required by the importing country. We will put international buyers in contact with our supplier directly. Please contact us by email.

California Sales Tax

To simplify matters, all shipping and handling charges are included in the price the price of our #1 Select Designer Grade Protea Bouquets. Unavoidable, we cannot include Sales Tax as it is only applicable to purchases within the State of California. During checkout, 7.75% Sales Tax will be collected on behalf of the California Board of Equalization on all purchases shipped to an address within the State of California.
